Russ Harrison
Sculpture, Painting, Jewelry
I am currently employed as a Principal Enterprise Architect for CenturyLink Communications but spend as much of the time I find myself not in meetings for my vocation pursuing what I think of as my avocation; the creation of Art.
I received a Regents Bachelor of Art from Shepherd University (then college) with a concentration in Fine Arts in 1988. I went from there to mounting artifacts and installing museum exhibits for places like the National Gallery, The Smithsonian, Ford’s Theatre Park Service Lincoln Exhibit and The National Archives. I have painted Exhibit panels for the National Park Service and created an enamel of the Annunciation for a Sterling Silver Cross created for the Saint Mary’s Chapel at the National Cathedral. I have created Installation pieces for the National Audubon Zoo in New Orleans and even a full sized replica of Jumbo the Elephant’s leg for the law offices of Ringling Brothers.
I have jewelry, watercolors and occasionally sculpture in local shops such as the Firehouse Gallery and have participated in the Clarke County Studio Tour and donated art for a number of charity events such as the Habitat for Humanity exhibit and auction in Winchester, VA.
I work in clay, wood, oils, watercolor acrylics and occasionally pastels. When I can squeeze in the time I also fabricate silver jewelry and build furniture.
