Norma T. Colman

Fabric Art

Norma Colman creates visual images with fabric using traditional quilting methods of piecing and applique.  She also discharges dye, paints, and embroiders to enhance her design work which has been influenced by years of garment construction and alteration. In addition to wall hangings, Norma makes garments, accessories for wardrobe and home, and church banners to adorn people, places, and sacred spaces.

Her primary sources of inspiration are rural landscapes, daily life with family and friends, and stories of faith which springboard her work with just a word, quotation, or song.  Then she picks up the scissors, and the cutting begins.
