Neena Jhaveri
Pottery, Silk and Canvas art
Multimedia artist Neena Jhaveri has come a long way since acquiring her fine arts and economics baccalaureates. Over the last 20 years Jhaveri has grown from being a watercolor artist to one that tackles canvas, clay and silk with equal ease.
The artist began her pottery career in 1996 by hand building mugs. That interest evolved into a hand- building technique that combines nature’s gifts (flowers and herbs) with proprietary clay. Jhaveri’s latest addition to her arsenal is SILK. She makes hand painted silk scarves and sarongs as well as silk paintings.
Jhaveri has participated in regional and national juried art shows including the famous mini paintings shows held in New York City’s Greenwich Village. The paintings bring together oils, gauche and natural materials such as sand and fabric. Her paintings start a story and leave it open-ended for the spectator to finish.
The artist’s work can be found in corporate and private collections across the United States, England, Scotland, France, Japan, Germany and her native India.
